Bereavement Facilitator Training Series presented by the Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center February 20th.

Newton – February 3, 2012 – The Bereavement Facilitator training is offered to anyone who has an interest in learning how to develop, implement and facilitate a bereavement self-help support group. For professional counselors, we are able to offer .6 CEU’s through NBCC. The program will discuss grief education, grief process, what is appropriate in grief, societal expectations in grief, facilitator self-awareness, multi-cultural diversity and perspectives, organization and implementation of a self-help bereavement support group. Objectives will be to learn appropriate expectations in grief; what appropriate expressions in grief are; become a self-aware and reflective facilitator; how to organize and implement a self-help bereavement support group; become aware of group dynamics; and how to run an effective self-help bereavement support group.

The class will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center, 61 Spring Street, lower level suite 100, Newton, NJ 07860.

“Establishing and Maintaining Self-Help Grief Support Groups”

Session Topics Include:

  • The grief process
  • How to run an effective bereavement self-help support group
  • Facilitator self-awareness
  • Identify how individual personalities can affect group dynamics
  • Dealing with difficult or defensive behaviors
